New Fraud Typologies and Scams

1 item

Fraudsters place victims under continuous video call surveillance while impersonating law enforcement officials in a scheme called "Digital Arrest." Victims are coerced into transferring funds into fake "secret supervision accounts." Proceeds are laundered within hours through 400+ dormant and newly opened dummy bank accounts, then dispersed via cash withdrawals, self-cheques, and payment gateways. The final layer routes money through trading, travel, and foreign-exchange entities, including RBI-licensed money changers, to convert proceeds into cash and foreign currency. Dummy companies are incorporated using names of drivers and low-income workers as fictitious directors.
