KYCKART Achieves ISO 27001 Certification, Reinforcing Enterprise-Grade Data Security
The certification validates KYCKART's commitment to protecting sensitive identity and financial data for its BFSI clients, secured within months of incorporation, before the company signed its first enterprise contracts.
Security built in before the first client, not after
KYCKART was incorporated in June 2021. Within months, alongside ISO 9001, the company achieved ISO 27001 certification, the international standard for information security management systems. For a company handling identity, KYC, and financial data on behalf of regulated institutions, this was a deliberate sequencing decision: build and prove the information security management system first, then approach BFSI clients who would expect nothing less.
What ISO 27001 covers
ISO 27001 certification requires a documented, audited information security management system (ISMS) spanning risk assessment, access control, data handling, incident response, and continuous monitoring, not a one-time checklist. For a platform processing individual KYC, business, financial, and vehicle verification data at scale, this framework maps directly onto the trust requirements of banks, NBFCs, and insurers, who are themselves bound by RBI and IRDAI data-handling expectations for any vendor they onboard.
"A KYC platform that can't prove how it secures the data it verifies isn't a KYC platform BFSI institutions can rely on. We wanted that proof in place before we asked anyone to trust us with their customers' data."
Anshu Singh, Co-founder & CTO, KYCKART
The foundation for what followed
The certification preceded KYCKART's first major client relationships by weeks: Reliance General Insurance signed on as its first insurance client in October 2021, and ICICI Bank followed as its first banking client the following month. Five years on, that same security-first posture underpins a platform that has since added RBI Innovation Hub's Data Service Provider licence, and Aadhaar OVSE and ULIP licences, to its regulatory footprint.
